Workers getting the short end of the stick during ongoing bus strike

“Workers unfortunately at the end of last week ran out of money,” said Bagraim.

Chairman of the Chamber’s Human
Capital Portfolio Committee Michael Bagraim said workers were becoming
desperate and turning to loan sharks for transport money.
Bagraim added that the strikers
would probably lose out as well because there would be no pay for them until
they returned to work.
Bagraim said the ongoing bus
strike and especially here in the Cape is
creating all sorts of problems for both the workers for management and obviously
for the public.
Bagrain added that the bottom
line is that workers are coming into the City having to pay at least 3 times their
normal transport money, to take the taxi as opposed top the buses.
Furthermore he said that this
is creating havoc at the workplace, many people are coming to work late, others
are coming to work feeling very irritable and dishevelled.
“Workers unfortunately at the end of last week ran out of money,” said Bagraim.
